Pepsi
History:
Pepsi was first introduced as "Brad's Drink" in New Bern, North Carolina, United States, in 1893 by Caleb Bradham, who made it at his drugstore where the drink was sold. It was later labeled Pepsi Cola, named after the digestive enzyme pepsin and kola nuts used in the recipe. Bradham sought to create a fountain drin that was delicious and would aid in digestion and boost energy. During the Great Depression, Pepsi gained popularity following the introduction in 1936 of a 12-ounce bottle. With a radio advertising campaign featuring the jingle "Pepsi-Cola hits the spot / Twelve full ounces, that's a lot / Twice as much for a nickel, too / Pepsi-Cola is the drink for you", arranged in such a way that the jingle never ends. From the 1930s through the late 1950s, "Pepsi-Cola Hits The Spot" was the most commonly used slogan in the days of old radio, classic motion pictures, and later television. Its jingle (conceived in the days when Pepsi cost only five cents) was used in many different forms with different lyrics. With the rise of radio, Pepsi utilized the services of a young, up-and-coming actress named Polly Bergen to promote products, oftentimes lending her singing talents to the classic "...Hits The Spot" jingle.
Qualitative Observations:
- Pepsi tastes like regular flavored soda.
- Pepsi smells like regular flavored soda with gas smell as well.
- Pepsi feels sticky and fluidy.
Test Results:
In all of the test results, Pepsi ended up being the worst, except in the cleaning test, in the cleaning test it scored second.
Cost Analysis:
Using the prise comparison chart that we created, we were able to figure out which one had the best price and which one had the worst price. Out of all of the soda brands, it had the worst price because it had the greatest price.
Recommendation:
My recommendation for Pepsi is to not buy Pepsi. Pepsi did not end up being the best at any of the four tests. It was the worst in all of the tests, and it was second best in the cleaning test. You are better off buying Coca-Cola or 7-Select.
Quick statistics:
- The Price per Unit is 0.017
- It is the coke with the worst total score
- It is the coke with the greatest price/unit.
